Social media is a deadly device. How much does it energize and fuel progress? Not that much. Today practically not at all.
Do you want progress? Do you want to create goodness and hope? Do you want to promote love, joy, and ignite a circle of trust?
What are your motives when you sit down to post? If you were in front of someone would you speak the words you post to their face? Think about it. Really think about it. Would you speak these words of anger, strong opinion, and fear to a breathing person? How do you think that will go when you spit out an unsolicited emotional reaction, instead of a solicited thoughtful response?
The screen allows protection from the hurt, and biting backlash of another’s comment. It’s easier to speak your mind when comments are virtual, but progress will not be made…ever, if you continue to pick virtual fights.
We should all go back to elementary school to remember our roots, our childlike, Divinely-given roots. Children in America every day were asked to stand up, put their right hand over their chest (their heart), facing the American flag and say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Every kid would start their day by saying, “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
“One nation under God” this is something we have forgotten. This nation was founded and is under God. That means that our country is grounded and lovingly held together, governed, by a Higher Power. It does not matter what you call this High Power, but nonetheless we are governed by a Higher Power.
“The United States of America” that is what we have taught our children to call this country, but as we grow up, and as the world has continued to spin on its axis, our country is no longer united. We are not the great United States of America…we are just America, or perhaps not. Since America was supposed be a uniting of lands and races, and people, and love. It’s not that anymore. We have forgotten our roots. Everyone has forgotten their roots. Social media, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and all other virtual platforms of communication has played a part in our forgetting.
The world wants progress. The world begs and pleads for progress. The world yearns for a boost of love and union. There are enough raging fires. Let’s put them out. No need to start more.
If you choose to use social media please share hope. Please promote love. Please spread joy and healing. Please practice an allegiance to our “one nation under God” and honor the love that is at the core of this statement.
Fight fire with water. No more fires, please!
